As a teenager growing up in So. Cal. in the mid '60s and cutting my teeth on Drag racing at "Lions Dragstrip" in Willington, Ca. If you didn't have a Chrysler (wedge or Hemi) under your hood you were probably not going to be in a final round. MOPAR was king for many years. MOPAR is also what made Richard Petty the "King" of NASCAR.
The late '70s and '80s were not good years for Chrysler... But they are not good years for any American car manufacturers. The EPA standards that came out at that time almost killed the American car. Low compression carberated engines were terrible. Thank God for EFI and advanced ECU systems that are responsible for putting power back under our hoods.
