Yes there is - the 6 is heavier. The ECU may also be tuned more for performance than economy but I'm just throwing this out and knowledgable members will have to confirm or deride this.
As previously noted, a big factor in mileage is how often the 6 is romped on - it really is tempting to do so. But for me I find the biggest factors are California drivers and California gas. Take those two ingredients away and my mileage goes from 24 - 25 to 27 - 28 mpg.
