A bent tie-rod should make the steering wheel tilt one sided instead of straight across when traveling down the street. Are you sure it didn't get bent when they picked it up with the lift? As stated above I would bring it to an independent alignment shop. Have them check it for you. Or your friendly mechanic.
An inspection station that handles foriegn cars might help you out also.
I was thinking the samething it wouldn't be the first time I've seen a dumass in a shop lift a car up by the suspension I can't see bending a tie rod without breaking a tire or rim.
