Based on what I have read so far I would say that the tunes are bases on imperical data taken from tunes done on other vehicles with 'like' mods. These may be based on actual dyno tunes originally(we hope). They still sound like a good trade off to get peak performance from your upgrades without going to a shop with a dyno. My .02 worth.
