Re: Would You Still Purchase A Crossfire
DW Duke, There is currently a $10K incentive from the factory to the dealer to move the cars. The dealer does not want you to know that since its an incentive to the dealer and not the customer. Funny thing is I found this out from another dealer when I was shopping for the Crossfire (I later also found references to it on this forum). The other dealer did not have the one I wanted so I told him another dealer has the one i was looking for. The sales manager then told me that since he didn't have on I want, he'll let me in on a secret. That was the dealers are getting $10K incentive from Crhysler to move the Crossfires and that I should use that to my advantage when dealing. He also told me what the lowest he could let one go for if he had it in stock ($28K drive out) and said don't take any higher offers than that from the other dealer. So I went to the other dealer and they quoted me first at $32K drive out saying that was the best they could do. I offered $28K drive out, which equals $25.5K + taxes, title and license (about $15K under the sticker price). The dealer at first laughed and said he couldn't do it and that there's no way he could let go of a $41K car for $25.5K. At that time I mentioned that he was getting $10K from Chrysler to move the vehicles and he should pass that on. The sales manager was surprised about me knowing that and going away for about 20 minutes to calculate the numbers.. he came back and offered $28.5K drive out. I refused, walked away. sure enough.. the next day he called and bargained some more... I told him if he's willing to let it go fro $28K driveout, then I will buy from him, otherwise I will be buying from another dealer that evening after work. He called back in 10 minutes and accepted my offer of $28K drive out. I think if I had haggled more I could have got maybe another $500 or so.. but I was happy with the price I paid for it...
