It's a personal preference but I will go 5000 miles generally and the change it.
The Cars have a FSS display on the odometer which calculates the driving conditions and can display oil change intervals by miles. Press your odometer trip reset button twice to display the FSS. Although if you have gotten the car recently you should change the oil now and reset the FSS so you know it is accurate.
