Re: Brand New Member
I will try to answer some of your questions to the best of my ability. The chrysler Crossfire is the "love child" of the Chrysler/Daimler (Mercedes Benz) union. The car is German built by Karmann and is 90% MB parts, built on the MB R170 (SLK230/320) platform. You are basically purchasing a Mercedes Benz in Chrysler designed clothing. As of the 2008 model year, Chrysler has ended production of the Crossfire. At this time resale value of the Crossfire are rock bottom, I paid $41,600.00 for my 2005 Roadster Limited in 2004.....and have never regretted it. The Crossfire came in 2 models and 3 trim levels......Base Coupe or Roadster, Limited Coupe or Roadster and SRT6 Coupe or Roadster. The SRT6 ihas the 330 HP supercharged MB/AMG engine as to the Limiteds 215 HP engine. The SRT6 at inception was priced at $51,000.00 and now can be had at half that price. These cars are mechanically sound but a good Crossfire certified tech is hard to find these days. If high performance is what you are looking for then the SRT6 would be the better car. These are not "tuner" type cars, performance upgrades are far and few and extremely expensive.
Upkeep on the Crossfire can be high, $80.00 - $125.00 for an oil change 9 at intervals of 7000 miles +), $1000.00 - $1300.00 for tires depending on the brand that you purchase. Routine maintenace can run you about $200.00 - $300.00 at the dealer.
Mustangs...IMHO...you cannot throw a rock without hitting one.......they are all over the place. Every "boy racer" has one, the Crossfire is very unique, sophisticated and a head urner.
Pros:
If you are looking a for a 2 seater this is the best bang for the buck at todays prices, and the SRT6 is even a bigger bang for the money.
Unique body design and proven MB technology.
A driving BLAST, especially on curvy roads.
Cons:
No spare tire.
Crappy cup holder.
Limited trunk space.
