Had the same issue with mine, the bumpers had actually wore a footprint down thru the paint to bare metal.

I used 3M Weatherstrip adhesive to glue two small strips of thin rubber to the gutter where the bumpers seat and problem fixed. The rubber was thin enough where I didn't have to jack with re-adjusting the bumpers.

Just my Dos Centavos !
