  • Rip apart a remote, remove the key and chip. The chip is small & black, it is next to the base of the key in the remote.
  • Get a file and etch the base of the key, the side that has the small pin which holds the flat key to the base. Etching will make a rough surface for the epoxy glue to bond the chip to the base.
  • Mix a small batch of Quick Set 5 minute epoxy glue. Wait about 2 minutes and smear the glue using a toothpick on the etched area. Then place the tapered portion of the chip flush with the base and let it set for 10 minutes.
  • Mix a second batch of epoxy glue. Wait about 3 minutes and using a toothpick, smear epoxy to cover the entire chip. The glue will flow smoothly over the chip after 5 or so minutes. Let this cure overnight.
