To the best of my knowledge the ONLY way to get into dyno mode is by using the STAR system.

Pulling #17 and #18 works if you want to do burnouts....but not for exceeding 5000 rpm on a dyno. I KNOW using this method will not defeat the 4200 rpm stationary rev limiter, so I can't see it letting you get the full rpm range on a dyno.

The only other method is to spin the front tires.....never tried this....seems kind of dumb/risky to me when you're on a dyno!
