I don't see where he wants a 'soft' ride, he is looking for a 'softer' ride.
I don't see where this is a request to ridicule.
From most accounts it sounds like the N/A cars handle pretty good, I think it would be a logical starting point. There are many cars that have the power and handling of the STR6 but ride a little 'softer', I believe the SLK32 AWG is one of them.
