Default Re: Depreciation

one of the problems with the crossfire other than the marketing and the brand name is the fact that so many were built.. 80k? and largely for the american market during a time of recession? that is not going to work.. if they built 20-30k it would possibly be a different story...

At these low prices that they are going for they still won't sell much, because people expect cheap service or a car that costs this much, but this is not so with the crossfire.. the old richer folks wont buy it because its too cheap, the ricers wont buy it because maintance and aftermarket are too expensive, the middle aged family people wont buy it because it is impractical, mercedes fans wont buy it because it is not badged mercedes, Chrysler fans won't buy it because it is a Benz.. the only people left to buy it are the people who appreciate this vehicle particularly.. and there are definatly not 80k of these kinds of people... the crossfire is a red-headed step child and that is one of the reasons I love it so much...

Another example of this problem is the Mercedes Mclaren SLR a new one cost 500k and ones 2 years old with only a couple thounsand miles are going for half that... absolutely ridicolous.. but it is their fault 3500 is just a huge number for these kinds of cars.. Enzo philosphy of building one less car than there is demand for is not something that either company goes by and they face the consequences..

Enjoy the fact that this car is extremly cheap for what it is...
