Default Easy Fix: Door Speaker Rattle

My right door main speaker has been having a rattle noise to it for a little while now, and it was driving me nuts. The speaker was ok, I just hated hearing something rattle in the door when I'd go over a bump in the road, or the bass would be thumping.

I read a few articles that I'd have to take off the door panel to get to the speaker, which I figured was the culprit based upon some minor "thump" tests (kinda like testing the ripeness of a melon).

I printed the sheets from the manual on removing the panel, and was starting the process. These are not the easiest instructions by the way, so I was thinking I was looking at some time investment. Go slow, don't mar the panel, fixtures, etc.

I got to looking at the chrome ring around the speaker, and took it off on a slight whim. Noticed the grill was snap in also and got it off in 2 seconds. Viola, there's the speaker and mounting screws.

Tightened all 3 screws on the speaker, cranked the stereo, and checked my work.

No rattle.

Put everything back together and took it for a road test.

Still no rattle.

I'm good to go.

Time to fix: 5 minutes (had to find the right song on the CD and listen to the song all the way through to be sure, but time does not include road test).
