Are you sure you want to do this 'cause you will be saddled with a real problem. This car costs a lot to keep, insure, fix and maintain. And you will have to keep it for a long time 'cause once you go Crossfire, you never go back to regular cars.
I suggest you go for an '05 or '06 limited coupe with an auto and just enjoy the ride. You won't have to impress your date with shifting skills and you'll free up a hand to play with the radio.
Or buy a stick and learn what real driving is all about. Either way, the XF will spoil you. You can't find anything close for less than twice the money, even if you paid sticker.
But you don't have to do that. If you can't find what you want for under $22k new or $16k used I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who can point you in the right direction.
Do it soon 'cause they ain't making no more.

Why would it be anymore cost than any other sports/luxury vehicle to insure, fix, and maintain? Is it because it's made by Mercedes? If I plan on getting a car, it will stay with me until it dies.. or I do first. I'm not putting down that much change only to trade it in later for something bigger and better. I want it to last me and I will take care of it. That's why I'm putting so much time in figuring out what I want exactly. I'm realizing car buying sucks, due to all the decisions and finally making the right choice, or so I may think.

At this time, the Crossfire is still in the front of my mind, but I also have one or two other car makes that I'm still sort of considering. The Mazda RX-8 and Audi TT... but I still don't know. They all seem nice really and within what I want to pay, but I'm sure this will all be settled once I actually get hands-on with the vehicles and take them for a spin next week or so.

btw: I doubt I'll ever consider getting a stickshift. Automatic is all I need.
