I'm getting close to requiring new filters for my SL55 intake and was considering the K&N's...
I just used the stock filters that came with the air boxes. I may change
them out for K&N's soon, but right now I want to get a good feel for how
different the SL55 intake is from the stock intake. BTW, thanks for your
write up, and for sending out the bracket pieces.
On that last, I've not yet received those in the mail, but I was able to come
to a solution when the pieces you were sending didn't arrive by Saturday's mail. It just so happened that I had a couple of mounting rails
from an old Compaq array I just received from a friend. These rails are
made of stainless steel and had a shallow, squared at the bottom, 'U'
shape. The width between the up-turned blades was just a very small
bit short than the attachment point/platform for the stock clips. So, after
trimming the rail material to about 2.5 inches, I gently hammered it on
to the clip platform (shaving a mere hair from each side as it went on) and
then screwed them in place. I then mouted the clips to the extended
mounting platform and did the same for the back end clip. Repeated
this for the driver side, and all attaches nicely on the clip connector *****
on the motor.
Took it for a test drive, and was posted earlier, was rather impressed with
the result. Thanks again for your write up and help.
