Hint green is for Go!)[/quote]
Bill,
I'm thinking you like walking on thin ice as the "(Hint green is for Go!)" is barely readable. Or Fontana Village burned down which really would be out of your control.
As this is April 1 I'm going to post the info I'd found for memebers to check out before leaving for the trip.

Remember the other Driver may not be as careful as you:
Taken from the Deals Gap [
Motorcycle focused] site FYI
There are three extremely dangerous sections of road on North Carolina Highway 28 between Fontana Village and US 129 at Deals Gap. Please watch your speed in these areas:
1. A little less than a mile after leaving Fontana Village and heading west on Hwy 28 there is a steep downhill right hand corner. The momentum the bike carries into this steep corner can fool a motorcycle rider. They then see and feel the uneven pavement which tends to steer you into the oncoming lane. Some riders panic and grab a handful of brake and go into the bank here. The really unlucky ones meet a car head-on.
2. Northbound on 28 about 6 miles from Fontana is one of the worst corners in the area. Not only is it a sharp decreasing radius turn, but also it has a guardrail to stop your slide if you misjudge the corner. This turn also throws you into oncoming traffic if you go wide.
3. A very tight corner on a concrete abutment bridge at Twenty Mile Creek located 6.1 miles from Fontana Village. You can see this corner coming both ways. There are added dangers here as a Forest Service road and a boat launch/camping area pull-off intersects.
See everyone there??
