This is a question I was going to ask, I am a big believer in changing fluids, we had a 5spd Topaz, that Ford said to use only Ford trans fluid, I put in Torco synthetic and drove the car for 6 years without problem, shifted smooth as glass, never any hangups or missed shifts. I fully intend changing the trans fluid asap with a good synthetic.
