Re: Have a new SRT-6 Coupe in my garage...
Thank you guys so much for all your info, I appreciate it.
The car hasn't been sat around here for 2 years. I would be the second owner. It was sold new at the dealership to a woman locally. It was sold last May to her. She's now pregnant and just traded it in with the dealership for a Journey! (what a step down!). The dealership has had the car for 3 days.
This morning, I decided the best way to look over the car is to act like I would when detailing it... so sat down and looked at it on a panel by panel basis, in the sun, under flashlight etc.
What I have noticed so far is that as I mentioned the drivers side rear fender/quarterpanel has had some paint on it. It's not the whole panel, just a small 1ft square area, in a triangle shape, from the door jamb about 1/3 the way along the fender and it has been blended in. It's only noticable in direct sunlight as a slightly purplier color.
There is an area on the front bumper that looks like a small amount of overspray, but that could be from poor taping off when the fender was painted. Nothing a claybar couldn't sort out. Same on the passengeer door, the is some 'texturing' like paint 'dust' settled in an area, nothing a claybar couldn't sort out. The only 'painted' area is this rear fender area.
The drivers side headlight is sitting a little high, it isn't flush with the bumper for some reason. That would be an easy fix too, but I'd be interested to find out why it it like that.
Aside from that, only 3250 (sorry 3302 after today's little outing) and it drives nice and strong. The only 'warranty' issues I can see are the mirror adjustment switch being broken, and I noticed there is no spare wheel kit in the trunk. I presume there should be a compressor and some sort of 'spray in' patch up kit like the new mini's have?
So - when I go back to the dealer tomorrow evening... I want to negotiate the following.
1) I want to try and keep the payment to as close to my current car as possibe. I am 1 year into an 06 Honda Civic Si with the Honda Factory Performance (HFP) options of lowering suspension, 18" HFP rims with BF Goodrich KDW2s and full HFP bodykit, all dealer installed. I currently pay $271 a month with about 7-8000 equity in the car.
2) An extended 8/80000 mile warranty.
3) The main thing that appears to go wrong with these cars is the IC Pump (from reading the forum) so a no questions asked written guarantee to have that replaced should it happen.
4) A replacement switch for the mirrors and the compressor etc for the spare tire.
Do you think this is unreasonable... too much of a lowball and they'll wait for some other sucker?
I love the car, but I don't have the luxury of 'needing to have it'. Don't get me wrong, if it works out for me on my terms, I'll snap it up, if not, one of you lucky guys can have it!
I love the way the car drives etc, but I don't need to be saddling myself with another $150 a month on top of my current car payment to get it!
