I wouldn't be at all surprised to find your issue is 100% Vista related because your apps are not Vista ready. There is a ton of legaxy software that doesn't behave properly under Vista. You might want to check for updates to both software packages and your mouse driver.

Vista is nothing short of a frickin' headache. It still blows my mind that you have to log on before you can shut it down?!
Many times a new computer will come with restore cd's that put the system back to the day it came out of the box. You will lose everything and have to reinstall everything, so making backups is the name of the game.
Not sure if you have these..........but if you do, at least it'll fix your downgrade.......I mean upgrade problem. As a bonus, you'll get about half of your RAM back.
