I have purchased a 160 degree thermostat from PTE in the above thread. It looks absolutely stock, and perfect, but I haven't yet installed it to give a review. Will try to do that in the next couple weeks.

My understanding is that he replaces the vernatherm in the stock unit so that it appears to be the stock unit, but opens at a lower temp.
