I had a yellow Vette take me on the inside the other evening on a divided roadway with two lanes in one direction. He was kind of passing traffic on both sides working his way up the road. Then came the traffic equalizer better known as a red light. I ended up directly behind him at the light. The odd thing was the first vehicle at the light in the adjacent lane was an older Porsche that didn't want anything to do with what the Vette driver had planned.

The Vette started off as the light turned green, and by the sound of his pipes, he was pressing the accelerator hard. The road was entirely clear ahead with no traffic entering from the adjacent lots. I didn't jump off the line like he did and remained a respectable distance away. I did put it to the floor in second, then third, and the Vette was somewhat surprised (I think) that I didn't fall far behind like he had anticipated. We didn't hit triple digits but close. I must admit we are not talking Z06 here, but a fairly new Vette is no slouch when it comes to good acceleration.

I like the pick up these Limited Crossfires have even if they are only 215 hp. The acceleration is more than adequate and somewhat surprising. After driving mine for a thousand miles, I can't help but wonder how quick the SRT6's must be. What a great car!

LOL....that is a good one!

I had a similar situation last summer. A newer vette was right in front of me as we were going through a construction zone on the expressway. We were both following the 35 MPH limit until the construction zone ended. As soon as he cleared the sign that said "construction ends", you could hear him getting on it. I had no choice but to follow suit, stayed right on his bumper for the most part. I was close enough to see him staring in his rearview mirror at me......he didn't look happy. We got 'em up to around 120, then backed off. I got beside him and gave the guy a nod......I was surprised that he nodded back with a grin!

We drove together for another 70 miles or so......all the while having a little fun when some ricer tried to challenge us. It's always gotta be a ricer for some reason?
