Tata is actually a huge indian company. They own car manufacturers, appliances, as well as subsidiary companies.
A few months ago we did some testing for Tata motors, the steel used on their cars needed to be checked out for weld lobes and endurance testing. It failed miserably. When we asked for chemistry's they gave us a real hard time, not uncommon for proprietary information, but they were unusually diffucult. They finally sent it to us.....Carbon was through the roof on their structural steels. May not seem like a big deal.....but high carbon content has a way of making welds look good and fail miserably. Not something you want happening to the structure of your car. We found enough things wrong with the steel alone........there's no way on god's green earth I'd ever own a car made by Tata motors.
