i hope the dealership is going to do an alignment prior to installing the new tires :!: i would consider $50 for the 2 tires to be reasonable if you consider that frequently checking treadwear is something that all car owners should be doing. i'm not suggesting it's your fault regarding the misalignment, but if you had noticed sooner, you might have been able to get it fixed with substanital tread left. then you could have been one of the first to do the often discussed side-to-side tire rotation.
on the other hand, even if you had caught the irregular wear earlier, you would likely have used up much more than $50 in tread. maybe the $50 and use of a loaner isn't such a bad thing. actually you make out a bit since 4.7K might equate to 1/5 the prorated treadwear of the michelins which would be like $100 worth of tread. :lol:
can you spare any details on how the tread wore? that info might help others in checking for similar patterns.
i have the michelins and 4.6K miles, but they don't seem to be wearing much at all.
