I had that on my nav too, where the compass disappears, but that might be from the fact that the air force changes the satellites it uses for info. Read about this, can't remember where, that some cars were unable to connect to the other sats and their navs didn't work at all. I wonder if that has something to do with it having to be reset. As for the CDs, only once did it fail to read one that I burned and that was after I hit a big bump in the road and the car took a good bounce but I had no problem ejecting it.
