Default Auto Transmission Fluid

Yesterday I took my Chrysler Crossfire in for its 36,000km service, and I requested that the Auto trans oil be changed, even though it is sealed for life .

The response I got was, do you know its $25/litre, to which I responded I don't care, then I was told it was a mongrel of a job,and as they had to filter the oil before it goes in the box, and that they are not even allowed to take a pan off a transmission, if one fails, all they are allowed to do is remove it and fit a replacement.
They suggested it could also void the warranty, as if ever the transmission fails, they would not be able to check the condition of the oil to investigate the cause.
The service manager rang the head Chrysler maintenence person, and confirmed that Chrysler Strongly does not recommend changing the fluid.
I said OK I will wait till its out of warranty then in 12 months time.

It seems silly that a customer is willing to be pro-active about the maintenence of his vehicle, and is willing to pay, only to be stopped by the manufacturer.
Or is that their point, sealed for life means sealed for a much shorter life??

ps, the vehicle is a 2004, but was bought new by me in 2006,(as they had quite a few they couldn't shift) hence its still in warranty.
