All current automatic transmissions have a parking pawl (kind of like a pin) that engages a gear on the output shaft to stop motion. The car can have to roll forward or backward a bit so that it can engage...I would think you would have noticed this on all autmomatics...nothing wrong with the tranny based on it rolling a bit before the pawl can engage.
