If your track is close to or at sea level you will run faster than someone at say 3000' elevation. modulardepot.com has calculator to help figure corrected times. racefan.com has all the tracks listed with elevations. The main reason for this is in bracket racing. Without going into much detail, you can accumulate data each time your run at different tracks and different conditions to predict what your car will run. The elevation level will yield you a faster time, but if it's cool then it will be faster. Vice Versa with heat and humidity. The higher the elevation would yield slower times. So if you ran lets say a 13.2 and then used the calculator to figure out at a sea level track with better conditions, would give you an idea how fast you possibly can run at a different location. Don't mean to hijack the thread. I have a post about this in the racing section I think. It was a long time ago.
