When it comes to an NA Crossfires getting spanked by a lowly Camary in the 1/4 mile, (according to Road & Track magazine) the Camary wins with a 14.5 ET vs the best I've seen for the Crossfire at 14.7 sec.
On the same token, The best I've seen for a "STOCK" SRT6 in the magazine road tests is 13.3 sec. where a 2008 Z06 is runs 11.7.
All things are relative. By todays standards, sure a late 60's Muscle car would be considered slow. But when you compare a 1968 14 sec muscle car to a 1928 Model A, maybe it will put things into perspective.
The Limited and Base cars were given a "Bread and Butter" Mercedes engine comparable to a Road Runners 383, where an SRT is much more like a 426 street Hemi, only better.
Saying a Camary can beat a NA Crossfire isn't a bad reflection on the XF, but just says how far the family sedan has come. Besides, that's about he only thing it does better, except carry more people.
Nobody is knocking the SRT's, just some good natured razzing going on that's all. But when all is said and done, the only thing a SRT really does better than a NA Crossfire is out accelerate it by a country mile. And that's enough as far as I'm concerned.
I never said C6Z06? That car will beat just about anything with the exception of just a few cars. I'm not mocking the standard crossfire either...all i'm doing is defending the srt model. If franc has a lack of understanding about the srt model then I have no problem giving him a quick lesson on one.
