I read the service manual about the order of operation for the TPS and decided the best place to go was the Mercedes dealer. I figured they see this all the time, would do it right as a habit, and there would be no worries. Now, the only concern was the cost. But it turned out that they charged me the same amount as the National Tire & Battery (AKA Merchants AKA Tire Kingdom). Same price, better knowlege of the beast. The did it faultlessly, detailed my car for free (not as well as I do, but it was free..) and called me when it was done. I did discuss the TPS bit with them first and even brought the pages from the factory service manual to make it clear in writing what my expectations were. I no longer try to pretend I am not ****, everyone spots it a mile away... Clear understanding up front - no excuses later.

So before you assume your local Mercedes place won't be competitive, check them out - you might be surprised. And you might even get more "Sir this" and "Sir that" than a ranking officer at inspection. That's always fun...
