This has alot to do with the fact that these cars were designed for HID from the factory, not the cost of the components. Reflectorized HID cars (which use D2R bulbs, D1R for the domestics, rather than projectors which use D2S) have computer designed reflector assemblies SPECIFICALLY tailored for the higher intensity and differently focused light source than Halogen. Same goes for projectors, though you can get away with alot more factory look on Halogen projectors usually than you can with Halogen reflectors.

Agree by the way that 4300 is the only game in town if you want OEM quality, and if you can, use Philips, Sylvania or DENSO ballasts.
