We just had our first opportunity to use Chrysler Assistance. We have 13,476 miles on the Continental Tires on our 2004 Blaze Red Coupe. We apparently had an inner sidewall failure on the front driver's side tire, but I didn't realize this was the case until after I attempted a repair with the goop kit that came with the car. It wasn't until after emptying the goop cylinder and still not getting the tire to hold any pressure that I called Chrysler Assistance. They located a tow service but because their operator transposed some numbers in my area code, they couldn't call us back to give us the estimate for the tow. My wife and I waited more than an hour and tried calling them again. (Did I mention we were on the eastern side of the Sierra's about 130 miles south of Lake Tahoe, in a very iffy cell zone?) We finally got our approval through -- $400 -- and after our car was on the flatbed truck I could look under the car from the passenger side and see all the goop appearing to come out of the sidewall, at the bottom. Won't know until Monday when I call the dealer again what caused the failure. I'm replacing both front tires because I fear a handling problem if I replace just one. Anyone have any ideas on causes of tirewall failures? I check my tire pressures once a week, so don't think low inflation was a cause.
