I just knew time was running out, and there is so much to see further North on Woodward.
The only problem with taking in the WDC the way that I do, is it doesn't lend itself to a large group of cars and people. But I highly recommend making it down to 15 Mile Rd to take in the Ford and Chevy exihibit, not to mention the huge car show at that location, just one block West of Woodward.
I'm not wishing my summer away, but I do look forward to the 3rd. weekend of August, that's for sure. Thanks again for all you guy's do.
First off, thanks for the input on the change of dinner locations, I'm making calls about it yet. Next, I wasn't offended last year. We too have always traveled around on Cruise day. Mostly we rode our bikes as it is insane to try to drive much and driving north on WW is simular to crawling there on your hands and knees. I agree that staying in one location sells the Cruise short, that being mobile is a great way to go. You are correct that a group can't move around, by moving the XF parking location further north people can see that there's a whole world out there

I hope that members feel free to come and go, that they wander around at the Cruise. We have very few organized activities so that members can use their time how they want. If they want to hang with the club we now have an excellent location (boy I sure hope!) for them to be and still see lots of things.
If they want to take off for a while, no problem. Everyone should go to Google Maps and get an idea of the area so that if you want to have your car close enough to walk back to, in order to drive somewhere, you can . There is only one residential neighborhood, directly behind the center. The other 3 corners will not have anything close enough to use. Beaumont hospital has their South parking lot, normally open to the public, large and free. But I don't know what they do on Cruise day and I think if there were more than 3 or 4 XF parked there it would be clear we were using their lot.
I have offered to a couple of members that they can park on my quiet residental street, but it is at 11 and WW with a 5-8 minute walk to WW. We can use my van to "shuttle" up to 13 mile on Coolidge Road, fast no traffic, goes straight north to the lot. If you did this you would be there until we drove back to your car.
There is no way to say that this 30 space limit is what works best for our group. But in order to move north on WW it's "slim pickens". Next year is a whole new cruise. If we like the location I think the owner will want us to stay and we'd get more spaces
