So, I've been thinking about getting some custom exhaust work done and I was referred to this muffler shop by another shop saying the guy does great work and blah, blah, blah. So I go over there this afternoon to see what he can do as far as doing a true-dual setup on the car.

Well immediately he looks in his Magnaflow book, for I guess a kit setup which isn't what I was asking for. I told him I wanted to do a rear cat delete and resonator delete with dual pipes going into a dual-in, dual-out muffler. He immediately says he won't remove the cats cause it'll void my warranty (even though he didn't ask if I still had one). I say fine, what about from the cat-back since he might be fine with that. He looks under the car and says that a universal muffler won't work, that it has to be some kind of special application for our car....okay whatever. I tell him that many people have slapped on universal mufflers and he seemed kind put off by that. He also said that he'd have to go through the frame in order to make the piping work and that there wasn't enough space (but I looked and it seemed that the rear frame braces can be removed and put back on) and also once you remove the resonator you free up a good deal of space.

I tell him about the true dual system that some of the members have done and he proceeds to tell me that "oh, those people on the internet probably go to car shows and had to have spent thousands on the exhaust work to have it done. I rolled my eyes at this one. So, now I'm itching the leave and finally get away and wanted to tell him. "Ok, you can go back to sleep, I was just trying to give you some work" (he was sleeping on his couch when I got there) but didn't want to get into any confrontation

So, for those of you that have done custom work at a shop for either a true-dual setup or a custom catback, how much did it run you? I really want to show the guy the pictures but I'm obviously not going back there again cause he apparently is discouraged by custom work, even though that's what he does.

You'd figure with the way things are now, that people would jump at these opportunities to make some money.
