Since I am still trying to figure out if I can Mod my car to match the SRT specs with SC and intercooler etc. I decided to analyze the specs between the two cars.
Below is the info I got from
http://www.media.daimlerchrysler.com
If the specs. for the specific item ie Bore/Stroke are not listed it is because they are the same as the standard model. The only specs listed are the ones which are different from our cars.
You will notice the gear ratios are different because I wanted to compare with my 6spd manual vs. the auto stick which is currently the only option on the SRT. And I'm wondering if I can Mod. to a SC / Intercooler with a manual tranny...
Standard / SRT

Intercooler -- / ?????????
ECU -- / Remapped I presume
Exhaust -- / "Deeper Tone"
All in all the questions and statements I have are as follows.
Compression ratio on the SRT is lower probably to gain optimum performance from the super charger. How can I, or do I need to reduce compression ratio if I were to install a IHI superchager ?
RPM is electronically limited on both cars 6000/6400 respectively. Every "Tuner" I have spoken with (Upsolute, PowerChip etc.) say they cannot change the speed or RPM limiter in their remap. Obviously it can be done if it is being done on the OEM SRT.
Gear ratios are not really concerning me too much as (I hate 1st gear in my manual anyway, it is too short and I would assume will only be more annoying with a SC install). 2nd + 3rd are the principal gears I use at the track and with a SC I would assume I would now use 4th a bit more often.
Electrical puzzles me, I can only assume they had to increase amperage to power the SC + intercooler. No Problem there, quick fix...
Brakes were probably upgraded to slow your *** down from the added speed... No problem upgrading those...
Suspension, no problem... I figure my current upgrade to Eibach springs and Koni dampers are probably very similar, if not better than the OEM. However, because the car is a couple hundred pounds heavier, and weight differential figures look like heavier in the front (probably because of the SC intercooler) I would think I would have to add tighter tortion bars. Probably just in the front to handle the extra weight.
Wider rear track, I'm assuming they added a bit wider hub to widen the stance for more stability with the added horse power. I doubt if the re-tooled the rear axel... Could be matched by spacers if needed...
Supercharger is no problem now that I found the OEM vendor (IHI Japan)
Intercooler, Now this is still a problem since I can't find the vendor who supplies it to DC... Any help from you guys would be terrific....
Exhaust, I am assuming they are probably using a bit larger pipe and maybe a different muffler, but I doubt they are doing anything with the headers or port polishing.
Lastly, ECU remap... I think once the tuners get their hands on the first SRT they will figure out a remap... But, This could be a problem if I install the SC and nobody has a new chip that will tune it properly...
All-in-all I am getting prices for all the upgrades and will post them with a comparison of buying a new SRT... I'm thinking the upgrades will cost more unless you can do all the Mods. yourself.... And you might as well throw your 3yr 36,000 mile warranty out the window...
