Re: Please help me decide on the Crossfire..
The srt is easily the biggest bargain I have ever seen I agree. And has cheap as they are, at 20 im really not financially ready to spend more than 14g's on a car(im thinkin i can sell the S for around 12 idk). So im pretty sure I can't afford the SRT. I dont think i mind too much not affording the SRT for a few reasons; I love driving manual cars, I prefer the leather, better gas mileage, and I really got to watch my speeding i cant afford another ticket! Obviously I like the more aggressive look of the SRT but its a trade im willing to take with just the xfire limited coupe.
When I say the S2000 is a better sports car i say it because of its strong racing heritage, its reputation on the track, its x-frame chassis, 120hp/liter engine(still a production NA record), perfect 50/50 weight distribution, limited slip differential, best gearbox in the world, 9k redline, its overall excitement to drive, its truly the closest thing to an F1 car in production IMO.
But like I already said...my s2k itself is having its share of problems....AC(not working), a shot wheel bearing(a noise that will kill your ears), a mystery chirping sound coming from a relatively new engine. All that noise combined with the rattles and tranny whines expected from the s2k, I just cant take it anymore. My answer to that was always to just drive spiritedly, but that just cant be an option anymore cause of the tickets.
So considering the looks of the crossfire, its price, its quietness/comfort, its newness, and rareness, it seems like I am choosing the right car for me.
What can you guys say about the reliability of this xfire? I mean I have 130k on the S, but to be honest I expected a lil more reliability than what I have already endured. What kind of mileage should I be looking for? And how are the expenses in terms of maintaining the car/parts? This would be my first German car so…..
