Using a process called HydroGraphics. The entire part is prepped, primed and then given a base color coat (in my case black). A sheet of synthetic CF overlay is cut slightly larger than the part. In a large basin of water, a chemical reactant is sprayed on the top and the fabric is floated on the water. The piece is then immersed into the water allowing the fabric to adhere to the part and conforming to all recesses, curves and edges. The part is then blown dry and allowed to set. followed by two coats of auto grade clear coat. The finish is smooth and glossy. My wife likens it to a laquered Italian music box.
It takes just about a week to go through all the steps.
