Default Re: Modifying the stereo with independence swith.

Alright. So, I've sat down and thought about it and I have concluded that my main goal for the stereo in this car is to replace my non-nav unit with a OEM nav system and to add a subwoofer...

I really like the idea of being able to fit a box in the empty first-aid slot, but am clueless as to where to even begin with a box, etc. I have been looking at the woofers and the new 10" or 12" MTX Jackhammer looks pretty nice (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-J...oductDetail.do). But then I also wonder if I should go with a higher-end sub such as the JL w7 series. I don't mind paying the extra, but wonder if there is that much of a difference. As far as an amp (which I would place behind the passenger seat) the Pioneer 800W mono looks good (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Pione...oductDetail.do). I'm assuming a mono amp will be alright because it will just be pushing a sub. I know this may be hard to believe, but I know nothing about car audio, so give me some input!

For those of you who have added a sub but kept the stock system, how do the speakers stand up to a sub? Does it drown them out too bad? Wrapping up, if somone could possibly look into the first-aid kit hole subwoofer placement, that would be wonderful!

Thanks so much for the help, everyone!
