A friend of mine had this happen on his Mercedes E-class and that is exactly what was happening. They fixed the defrost vent, which was staying open a bit even when the winshield defroster was supposed to be off.

This is only compounded by the fact that the air conditioning system in the Crossfire could likely cool down a full-sized sedan with room to spare.
