Even a set of brand new pistons, rings, rods, bearings etc would run you less than $3k. I'm not talking DC parts either. I'm talking about full-on 4340 forged racing rods and JE forged pistons?!

Why do you need a new short block? Did they say the cylinder bores were damaged or out of spec?

A wrist pin that makes noise is NOT a reason to replace the whole darn engine!
