Default Re: Key stuck in the ignition

I had the same thing happen to me once with my SRT-6.

I put the car in park, engaged the handbrake, turned the engine off, and tried to remove the key, but it was stuck. After turning over/ shutting off the engine without freeing the key I decided to shift into reverse and shift back into park. Once the transmission shifted from reverse to park I shut off the car again and out popped the key.

I assume the transmission did not shift into park the first time, and the tumbler held onto the key as a safety mechanism.

I have not been able to reproduce this, with the auto-stick in park and the ignition tumbler still holding on to the key. The tumbler will hold onto the key if you turn the car off with the transmission engaged.
