Keep the strakes for sure. On aero blue that gap really stands out; I'm stumped about doing something with mine too. I'll be getting them painted flat black probably, unless you guys come up with something better. Either way I think the strakes are a necessity if the gap looks like that pic above.
I personally like the chrome covers, but I'm just not into the black trim thing.
