I tried the throttle reset and it smoothed out somewhat, but the little lurch as soon as I step on the gas pedal from a stop is still there occasionally.

More than anything I just want to figure out what the hell it is. My best guess is that it's some sort of driveline lash somewhere if it isn't the transmission actually kicking down a gear which is exactly what it feels like.
