Angry Re: NEWLY released Nav CDs??

I sent this email to NavTeq on 7/4/08.

Do you ever plan to release a new update for the Chrysler Crossfire which uses the Infinity NAV system with East Coast/West Coast CDs? This car is not even listed on your web site. There are a large number of users with the OEM NAV radio systems that are stuck using the original CD's from 2003. This was a $1200 dealer option that owners feel should still be supported. Help us all out here please. Regards, Karl

Karl,

Thank you for contacting NAVTEQ. Although Daimler-Chrysler uses our map data we neither produce nor distribute the disks for the Crossfire. For information please contact your nearest authorized Daimler-Chrysler dealer.

Obviously this is a hopeless cause..... NAVTEQ has a web Store and sells update disks for other cars, many are Chrysler models which makes this doubly painful. We got caught in a technology stairs-step moving from CD to DVD. Open sourcing this data is a great idea but it will never happen.
