And I am of the opinion that my friend smokey here is more mature than 80% of the forum members.
And since we're on the subject...
I'm 16. I drag race a 1994 LT1 Corvette. Best run: 13.3 @ 103. I have the timeslips. I also routinely drive my father's 300 SRT-8. His best run: 12.6 @ 113. I learned stick on a 2004 SRT4, best trap: 104.
My brother drives a 1999 Mustang GT vert. He's buying a C5 ZO6. He's 17.
Back in the day, my father and uncle were racing a Z28. He was 19 and my uncle was 23. Best run was a 10.7 @ 130. Blew up before they could best it.
As you can see, we're not all incompetent drivers. The biggest accident I've had is curbing my rear drivers rim because I tried to avoid a huge puddle of something gross in the drive-thru of Taco Bell a couple days ago.
Its the price you pay for being in a family of gearheads.

This goes to prove that someone with seventy years of experience is more of a hazard on the road than someone with two years of experience. If you would look back through the forum, there have been several wrecks in SRT-6's driven by adults. What about all this experience they have?
It is so stereotypical and is pure ignorance to assume that every sixteen year old is going to be a reckless driver. While some cars are quicker than others, every car is "FAST." A Buick could get someone in a worse wreck than a Crossfire. It all depends on the driver.
I really don't appreciate you accusing my father of being an idiot. He is aware of the SRT-6's power, and I have evidentley proven that I am a responsible driver to him. Please don't criticize my generation for the incompetence you may have had as a teenager with driving.
I don't want to evoke any trouble or negativity. I just posted this thread to seek help with finding a car, not to ask forum members about their opinion of young drivers.
As can anyone's of any age in a performance car.
Thanks for the encouragement about getting the SRT, nevertheless.
Thanks for any more replies regarding the original topic!
