Re: Expected Longevity of XF with Higher Miles
The car will hold up under heavy milage.
IT IS A BENZ
However, while the drive train will take a lot, I would suspect the usual Benz failings.
Blower fans, especially interior, will get noisy and fail.
Window regulators will fail.
The glass may separate from an otherwise well functioning regulator.
Light bulb sockets will fail, espcially in the trunk area
Rubber seals around doors and window will fail.
Speakers, I guarantee will fail.
Any rocker switches will likely fail or just get winky
The cable system on the roadster top will fail, especially if you don't keep it well lubricated.
Most of this starts on a Benz at about 120K miles in my experience. That's why they drop to nothing in resale after 120K.
I would suggest that since our cars are truly Benzes, they are good and reliable to about 120K at which point they will still run like hell but irritate the owner with pesky BS issues as suggested above.
My two Benzes are never, that is never, completely at 100% Some kinda of physical law or something German.
It's a lot like owning a cat. No such thing as a free kitten. Never quite understand the attraction but just can't get rid of the liittle buger.
