I would consider non metallic materials to limit heat soaking and to retard the heat gain during the WOT operation. The metal when heated will directly heat the air when you punch it, whereas the composition material due to its lower thermal conductivity will not heat as much. This why its so hot when you touch a cars hood-body in the summer but a wooden board in the sun all day long is much cooler ( you think ) when you lean on it.

The heat barrier that I added to the exhaust manifold would be a real plus to asist in controlling temperatures.
