The ignition noise it the signal for the Gtech meter, it just counts them, the alternator is 3 phase alternator that generates little noise and not reliable. The am radio comment is spot on accurate, and a little crafty. In older cars you could have tuned off the low end of the dial and at low speed actually hear a fouled plug not sparking just by ear, you did not know which one of course. I have the Nitrod and it works very well. No glitzy graphics, but good fast(/) information.
I've spoken to a tech guy there twice, and the cust. serv. is top-notch. Have you tried the email?
I understand they are coming out with a newer model,hence the "outof stock" for awhile.
If you can, call the number in Canada andask your questions. Both the SRT and the N?A are supported, at least with the old model.
Afterlooking at all the others, I think it's worth waiting for.
