engine oil capacity... one more time? 6.1QT vs. 8.5QT
I read previous topics in the forum concerning the 'update' to the owners manual concerning oil capacity. I just recently took delivery of my Crossfire and did the first oil change. Originally i put in 6QT only to see the low oil level indicator light up. After some research, i found out the manul was wrong and added 2 more QTs of oil. 8 total. supposedly 1/2 a quart still short.
My problem comes in with the oil level indicators. The electronic indicator on the odometer reads "HI" and the dip stick shows the oil level past the full mark. Is there something wrong? Are there some Crossfires (early models, etc.) that should have a 6.1QT motor and others that require 8.5? What was the capacity in the SLK? any change to oil pan design when transplanted to the Chrysler?
And finally, what do i do now? :?
Thanks for all your help.
