Default Re: Tirerack.com - a good idea?

OK heres the deal.........

I was gonna buy my new rear tires P255/35/ZR19 Continental ContiTouringContact CW95 from www.tirerack.com

But I did some checking and here is what I found out.

Tirereack will sell them to me for $464 a pair plus $22 shipping (no taxes)
Total $486.
Then mounting and balancing at any location near my house would be a minimum of $32 each so that puts me at $550 total purchased, mounted and balanced with nothing more than the factory warranty.

Now on the other hand...........

Discount Tire sells the exact same tire for $494 a pair before tax.
(no shipping cost here) This price reflects Tirerack's price and shipping costs to me in their price matching.
Overall cost difference for the tires is + $8 at Discount tire.(before tax)

BUT by buying them at Discount Tire, the mounting and balancing is only $13.99 each (not $32 each) and includes free lifetime balancing and prorated replacement road hazard protection and free flat repair. That put me at a cost of $522 purchased mounted and balanced with the Discount Tire service warranty.
then add tax of $42 and the total is $564

So if ya have been able to follow me here I am paying $14 more buy purchasing at Discount tire but have the lifetime balancing , free flat repair and prorated replacement warranty by going to any of their locations.

Shopping at Tirerack just didn't seem to be the best option here.

Your thoughts ??
