I have asked the question but have not received a response on it, but prior to my retirement, a VIN number had absolutely nothing to do with the build sequence. I am just wondering if the process has changed since I retired and does the VIN in some form represent the build number of a car. Because it had no relationship to the build sequence when I retired doesn't mean that it doesn't today. I am really curious about the answer on this because I just can't see how that would happen unless they changed the process totally.
